We met on December 1, 2021 at the University of Tennessee–Knoxville — a Tennessee boy and a New York City girl whose worlds couldn’t have looked more different on paper, yet somehow felt instantly familiar. From the very beginning, we connected over our shared love of good food, great stories, and meaningful conversation. Caelan introduced Jane to Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Harry Potter, and before long, movie nights became one of our favorite rituals. Our relationship began long-distance, which taught us early on how to be intentional with our time and our love. FaceTimes turned into virtual date nights, weekends were cherished escapes filled with cozy nights in, romantic dinners out, and Indian takeout shared on the couch while watching our favorite shows. Even then, we knew we were building something special. As time went on, our love for adventure grew alongside our relationship. We started traveling together — first close to home, exploring places like Gatlinburg, Asheville, Charleston, and Pensacola — and soon realized that seeing the world together was one of our greatest joys. In 2024, Caelan’s work with the Air Force took him to Germany, and while overseas long-distance came with its own challenges, it ultimately brought us closer than ever. That year became one of immense growth, resilience, and unforgettable memories as we traveled across Europe together — scaling the Swiss mountains and sharing cheese fondue at the summit, wandering the ancient streets of Girona and Barcelona sipping sangria and enjoying paella, and searching London for the best chicken tikka masala. We pub-crawled through Edinburgh, hiked the Scottish Highlands, tasted wine in the Alsace countryside, climbed bell towers in Split, Croatia (almost fainting along the way!), sampled chocolate and beer in Belgium, experienced Amsterdam, and danced the night away in Puerto Rico. Each place added another layer to our story and strengthened the partnership we were building. Most recently, our adventures took us out west — to Las Vegas, Zion National Park, and the Grand Canyon. At sunrise on Canyon Overlook, after a hike that felt both grounding and surreal, Caelan proposed. That same day, we hiked The Narrows through the river itself and the next day we stood in awe of the Grand Canyon — a perfect reflection of who we are: adventurous, present, and deeply connected. At our core, we are both cozy homebodies and spirited explorers. We love quiet nights in pajamas just as much as we love ATV-ing through the desert, hiking mountains, or dancing across continents. Jane is a psychologist, and Caelan has given unwavering support throughout her doctoral journey filled those Knoxville years with love, laughter, and adventure. Caelan is an Intelligence Analyst for the Air Force, and his career has opened doors for us to see the world together — something we will always cherish. Over the past four years, we have grown individually and as a couple, strengthening our values, deepening our partnership, and choosing each other every day. Whether we’re curled up on the couch laughing at inside jokes or chasing our next adventure across the globe, there’s no one else we’d rather do life with. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
